Acne is an adolescent coomon conditionwhich is characterised with blackheads, pustules, pappules which are caused by increase in hormones called androgens which are characterised by the sebaceous glands by increasing the size and oil secretions.

At times these glands get blocked and then blackheads and whiteheads develop and get infected by bacteria that causes inflammation and pimples.

These acne appear on face, back, shoulders and chest. The conditions may be lying deep inside or superficial which could cause scarring. These have a family tendency as well

Diet:

  • Consume high proteins, low carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, sprouts etc
  • Avoid fried food items, junk foods, butters, sugarated drinks, citrus fruits and citrus juices, caffeine etc
  • If you have access to a registered Naturopath or Naturopathy Centre it is wise idea to try fasting therapy using non citric juices.
  • Drink lots of water atleast on a daily basis. Drinking water is best medicine according to Naturopathy

Hydrotherapy:

Alternate compress hot and cold could be applied to the affected areas.

Other measures:

  • Manage stress - Undertake some leisure activities, yoga, deep breathing techniques and pranayama
  • Avoid chemical based face creams, soaps which could aggrevate the problem
  • Wash the fash with warm water so that it could reduce pain in the inflammed area
  • Avoid meddling with the pimples or wounds as it could hamper healing
  • Try to have enough sleep for atleast 6- 7 hours.
  • Avoid alcohol or smoking
  • Avoid facial treatment when the face is affected and when wounds are present

Once healed some aloevera jel ( taken from fresh leaves ) could prevent and also bring the smoothness of skin back.

Finally to get an expert advice get yourself checked with a registered Naturopath for further consultations

Hmm. My view & experience on this is a bit different. Fruits are hydrating, they help in cooling down the body. Any pimples, acne, etc means the body is heated up & over loaded with toxins / waste materials. Eating fruits helps the body cleanse. Fruits are alkaline & help the body & skin restore its ph. There are a lot of skin issues healing stories in the Journeys section. Sonia - See if you find them helpful.

I do agree that it may not be hard and fast rule that it must work the same way. There might be exceptions the way it works from one person to another. Some texts in Naturopathy preach different than it works in practical aspects. Hence your point is also right and I agree upon it

Some citrus fruits could increase the allergic reactions in the body and hence on a safe side it is better. Also as per Ayurveda it is believed to increase heat and heat is totally contradictory to the pimples. Not much evidence is available but in clinical practices citric fruits and juices are seen to aggravate the problem

Hi there ,

Consume high protein and low carbohydrate foods based on whole, unprocessed foods. Eat lot of green vegetables and fruits

Removing refined sugars and taking milk and dairy products out of your diet will lower your intake of tran-fats. This will also mean cutting out fried foods, margarine and other hydrogenated vegetable oils and hydrogenated oil products.

Increase the amount of other foods such as those containing Omega-3 fatty acids. cut out junk foods and carbonated drinks.

Herbs such as garlic, amaranth, aloe, lemon, coriander, basil, cucumber, grape, chickpea and beet might be helpful.

Skin is a reflection of the body’s health inside. Health is always inside out and not outside in. Eliminations happens via the skin too. Since a child whatever toxins such as pollution, chemicals on skin, dairy, meat, eggs, and fish, all the harsh chemicals that would have been used in the household, toxic smells, medicines etc.would have got collected in your liver and over a period of time when it maxes out, and it finds that the other excretory organs are also clogged, it tries to eliminate that from the skin. The more severe your Acne the more accumulation of toxins in your skin and so in the body. The solution is to start focusing on cleaning your body. Lead a healthy whole food plant-based diet with a focus on raw till dinner and your skin will be ok over time. 50% of fruits and greens, 30% of vegetables, 20% of cooked food is all that is necessary to clean your body. Avoid all forms of fats even nuts and seeds for this condition to heal. Over time you can include coconuts. Quit dairy meat fish eggs, sugar, all forms of oils including any fancy cold-pressed oils, refined oils having food outside often (because of all the refined and processed food and + the chemicals to make it tastier), wheat and other grains contain gluten such as barley and oats. Avoid maida and other forms of foods that contain gluten.

Include a lot of fruit and vegetable juices such as cucumber ash gourd which comes to at least 2-3L per day.

Next, avoid all cosmetics and chemical application on the skin. Use natural products such as my recipes here below. Put things on your skin that you can put into your mouth too. As you continue to improve on the Raw intake in your life and quit all forms of medications, the skin will definitely pop out and overtime release all the toxins that are inside the body. You will have to allow it to happen for your  Acne to be completely healed in the future. Pus is nothing but all the toxins that are coming out.

Any form of medicines does two purposes, one is to give an improvement in your condition and the second is to cause another problem which is toxin accumulation. Since medicine is not Food the body will try to eliminate it in the form that it knows best in your body which is acne

Hi,

Pimples are a common skin condition, mainly in adolescent age due to hormonal change. Other main cause is oil and dead skin cells clogging in the skin’s pores. Primarily affects teens; more than 85% experience at least a mild form of this condition. It most commonly occurs on the face, chest, back, shoulders, and neck.

During puberty, elevated hormone levels stimulate sebaceous glands to produce more oil, also called sebum, which is normally released through the hair shaft to lubricate and protect the skin. Sebum combines with dead cells, forming a plug in the skin pore and leads to the formation of pimples/acne.

To cure and prevent pimples :

Wash Your Face regularly

Your face can gather dirt and grime over the day. This can clog your pores and lead to pimples. Washing your face well can ensure the pores don’t remain clogged.

Don’t Pop Your Pimples

You must never touch or pop your pimples as this can cause the infection to spread and lead to further breakouts.

Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated ensures your skin is replenished and the pores don’t remain clogged by the excess production of sebum.

Limit the Use of Makeup

If you have pimple-prone skin, do not use makeup too frequently. This can aggravate the issue as it can lead to further clogging of your pores and trigger pimples.

Avoid direct or more sunlight.

Make Some Lifestyle Changes

  • Avoid processed foods and dairy products as these can cause pimples.
  • Make sure you exercise regularly as this can help replenish your skin.
  • Take adequate rest as stress can also lead to breakouts.
  • Sleep at least 6-7 hrs per day
  • Do physical activities like jogging walking swimming etc.
  • Avoid stress by doing regulations yoga, pranayama and meditation.

Take food items:

  • Nuts and dry fruits
  • Omega-3 fatty acids present in chia seeds,  walnuts and pumpkin seeds.
  • Antioxidants in the form of fruits like strawberries, blueberries, etc.
  • Fresh vegetables, such as tomatoes, carrots, apricots, sweet potatoes, spinach, and other green leafy vegetables and fresh seasonal fruits.
  • Whole grains
  • Brown rice
  • Quinoa etc.

Natural remedies to remove Pimples:

Aloe Vera: Apply fresh aloe vera gel to face and leave it for 15-20 mins then rinse. It helps to clear the pimples and it's marks.

Tulsi Leaves: Take a few Tulsi leaves and grind it. Apply it on the pimples.  Leer it 20-30 mins then rinse.  Repeat until pimples disappear.

Papaya: Take a small piece of papaya mash finely and mix tsp honey mix well.  Apply on your face and keep it for few minutes and rinse.

Lemon Juice: Take few drops of lemon,  apply on the face using cotton balls.  Keep it for a few minutes then rinse it off.  You can use lemon a few drops of the honey mixture also.
