Cholesterol And Triglycerides - The Silent Killers

So many people suffer from high cholesterol and elevated triglycerides. What is the reason behind this? By understanding the cause of increased levels, you become empowered to take charge and heal yourself. This article takes a deeper look.

Cholesterol and Triglycerides have become synonymous with heart diseases and heart attacks. Though they look and sound dangerous they do not have to be so. Once we understand what cholesterol is, how it is produced, when we know how it starts going high in our blood, when we learn how we could reverse the build-up, then it is no more a matter to fear. This is where life proves time and again that awareness or knowledge is real power. Once we understand everything that is involved in this process, we could make changes accordingly and get freedom from disease and freedom from fear.

What is Cholesterol?
Cholesterol is a wax-like fatty substance that is produced by the liver. Cholesterol is produced to assist our body in building its cell membranes, many hormones like testosterone and estrogen, fat-dissolving bile acids and vitamin D. The body produces the amount of cholesterol that it needs for its functioning. The blood gets its cholesterol from two sources - one is produced by the liver and the intestines itself and the other source is any food that we consume, be it seeds, nuts, meat, poultry, dairy etc.

As cholesterol is a fat, it can’t travel alone in the bloodstream. It would end up as floating blobs like butter floating in water. To escape this issue, the body packs the fat particles called lipids into minute protein covered particles that mix easily with blood. These tiny particles are called lipoproteins - lipid plus proteins. These particles move the fat throughout the body.

Types of Lipoproteins
The different types of lipoproteins are Low-Density Lipoproteins (LDL), High-Density Lipoproteins and Very Low-Density Lipoproteins - of which the LDL and HDL are most commonly known.

▪ The HDL is also popularly known as good cholesterol because it carries cholesterol from the other parts of the body back to the liver. The liver then removes the excess cholesterol from the body.
▪ The LDL is also popularly known as bad cholesterol, because high level of this can combine with other things in the blood and end up causing a buildup of plaque in the arteries, leading to atherosclerosis. This can lead to Coronary Artery Disease leading to Heart Attacks and Strokes.
▪ The VLDL is also a bad cholesterol leading to build-up of plaques in the arteries. But it is different from the LDL as it mainly carries Triglycerides. High levels of triglycerides can lead to plaque build-up in the arteries, blood circulatory issues or can also cause conditions like pancreatitis.

Causes of High Levels of Cholesterol
The main reason behind the building up of high levels of cholesterol in our bloodstream is enervation. As the nerve force or vitality starts getting involved in too much activity or if there is an overload of work, there is an insufficiency of nerve-force left free to deal with the excess build-ups of toxins. And so, there is an excessive amount of cholesterol going around causing more damage.

How does our body get enervated or how does the vitality get low?


Unhealthy food habits: Eating Unhealthy diet and eating too many times a day, without caring for the circadian rhythm of our body are major reasons behind enervating our system. Unhealthy diet would mean, highly processed food, meat, poultry, dairy, deep-fried foods, Processed foods made from low-quality oils, etc. which contain saturated fats and trans fats, which our body docent need much.
Lack of physical movement: These days, most people lead a sedentary lifestyle and this leads to lesser support for moving the toxins out of our system.
Disconnect from nature: Most people don’t spend time out in nature at all. The body doesn’t receive the vital energy that one needs from the elements of nature for our normal functioning.
Intoxicants and stimulants: Consumption of Alcohol, Tea, coffee, smoking etc can drain the vital energy to a large extent.
Lack of rest: When there is lack of a good night’s sleep, and when life is full of stress again we are drained of our vitality leading to an increase in toxins.

Actions for reducing Cholesterol levels
The best way to reduce the levels of cholesterol in the body is to reduce the burden of work on the vitality or nerve force. The removal of all that is draining the vitality will free enough vitality which will help the body to conduct its routine activities properly and aid removal of the toxins from the system.

This will not happen overnight. Just as the build-up did not happen overnight, It would take some time for reduction- but way less time than it took to buildup the toxins or Cholesterol in this context.
The second part of the action plan would be to add activities and habits that would be supportive in letting the body to do its needed activities for maintenance of good health.

Action Plan

  • Food: Cultivate the habit of eating species-specific foods, that is whole plant-based foods, that too raw as much as possible. Let your diet be 50% of locally grown, seasonal and ripe fruits of your daily food intake. Vegetables could consist of 35% of your daily food intake. Grains could be 10% and nuts and seeds could consist of 5% of your daily dietary intake. The rule of the thumb is never to eat without hunger and never overeat. Do not forget to chew your food well. Eating between mid morn to the time before the sun retires is the best time when your digestive system can process the foods that you have eaten. Our system goes into rest mode after sunset so it's better to avoid eating at night. Giving our body a long gap of 14 hours or so of rest from the activity of processing the food and digesting it, will also make available enough time and vitality for the body to remove toxins and waste matter later on supporting in repairs and healing.
  • Exercise: Getting into the habit of walking, or doing yoga or any healthy form of exercise will help the system to move the toxins and excessive cholesterol out of our system.
  • Connect with Nature: The lives of most people are so hectic and rigid that one doesn’t find time to go out in the Sun, absorb the Sun’s rays, breathe in fresh air or get some grounding by sitting in the garden or walking barefoot or gardening. Connecting with nature will relax the body, nourish the cells with the energy from the elements which in turn will support the functioning of our system in a better manner. This would result in faster cleansing and healing process. thus removing the excess cholesterol and the plaque build-ups from the arteries.
  • Sleep and Relaxation: Sleeping in the early hours of the night and sleeping throughout the night puts the body in a state of deep relaxation resulting in the body getting more free energy for removing of the toxins. Most cleansing and healing happens when the body is in a highly relaxed state, hence the importance of good sleep. Having good friends and a good relationship with family members helps one in unwinding and relaxing by sharing the matters that are causing stress. Getting into activities that bring joy into our lives goes a long way in helping in healing.

Conclusion
Understanding how our body works and what activities and food habits make it healthy is the key to freedom. - the freedom from fear and freedom from the silent killers.
