How to cure Psoriasis naturally?

Psoriasis – everyone says that it is uncurable. But I believe nature has the answer to every possible disease out there.
A psoriasis flare can be a challenging experience. You may be managing psoriasis throughout your life, and at times the condition may erupt and cause new skin lesions to appear on your skin along with other pain and discomfort.
Psoriasis reacts differently for each person. You could find that particular behaviors or situations cause your psoriasis to flare, even for something that’s not well recognized as a trigger.
Some common triggers for psoriasis are–
- Stress can cause inflammation and activate your immune system, resulting in a psoriasis flare. Make sure the current flare doesn’t get worse due to more stress. This will just create a vicious cycle.
- Cold and dry weather – Use a humidifier to save your skin from getting dry.
- Trauma(injury) to the skin. This includes cuts, scrapes, bug bites, or a severe sunburn.
- Food habits – Nonvegetarian food, milk and milk products, wheat and wheat products, nightshade plants such as Potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants etc.
- Fragrances – Includes perfumes and artificial fragrances added in body products like creams, lotions, shower gels, shampoo, conditioners etc can irritate a sensitive skin. make sure to avoid bathing products that contain fragrance, as this can irritate your skin.
- Pollution - Exposure of the skin to air pollutants has been associated with skin aging and inflammatory or allergic skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis or acne
- Sweat – Avoid over-exertional exercises, too much sweating or wearing irritating, synthetic clothes may trigger psoriasis lesions which are already present all over the body.
- Overexertion - Thou mild to moderate exercise is necessary to manage psoriasis, over-exercising and stressing the body can increase the flare-up. Make sure you start exercising slowly and then build up your pace
- Bad addicting habits like alcohol, smoking, tea and coffee (all these makes our skin dry and in psoriasis, we do not want our skin to get drier and parched)
Symptoms
- Scales typically develop on joints, such as elbows and knees. They may develop anywhere on the body,
- Plaques of red skin, sometimes also covered with a crust of scales that tend to be silver or white
- Loose skin or lesions that can be sensitive,
- Itchy and painful dandruff on the scalp
- Cracked, discolored skin that easily bleeds and bruises
- Discoloration in the finger and toenails or growth of toenail fungus nails that detach from the nail beds and can be painful or bloody
- Many people with psoriasis also suffer from emotional problems due to feeling embarrassed and hopeless about their skin
Psoriasis is most often found on the elbows, legs, scalp, lower back, face, palms and soles of the feet. However, it can also occur in other locations, such as the fingernails, toenails, genitals and inside the mouth. Scalp psoriasis affects about 50 percent of people with psoriasis, making it one of the most obvious concerns in people with the condition.
Naturopathy’s view on Psoriasis
The body seeks to eliminate the toxins through the skin. Psoriasis is the result of body’s desperate attempt to cleanse itself.
Natural or holistic treatment aims to get at the root of the problem. Curing an unhealthy lifestyle is the foundation in curing psoriasis

Nature cure for Psoriasis
- Exercise -Exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle — and it can be an additional way to help keep your psoriasis flares under control. Staying active when you have a chronic condition has its challenges, but don’t give up. Remember to start slowly, Perform Yoga daily for 1 hour in cotton clothes
- Choose natural cloth fabrics - Choose cotton over synthetic clothing because synthetic material can cause sweat to build up and irritate the plaque. Choose clothing that helps you feel comfortable and confident.
- Reduce Stress – by doing pranayama, meditation, aromatherapy (use lavender essential oil)
- Prevent dry skin – Stay hydrated internally by drinking enough water throughout the day and externally by using a humidifier. This can help prevent dry skin before it starts. Moisturizers for sensitive skin are also great at keeping your skin supple and preventing plaques from forming.
- Do not scratch – Do resist that sweet scratching, because that one scratch will worsen your lesion
- Manage Weight. Gaining weight or living with obesity can cause worsening psoriasis symptoms, according to a 2013 study. Stick to mild and moderate exercises including yoga, taking stairs, etc
- Sunlight bath - helps in optimizing Vit D inside the body and also provides natural light therapy for psoriasis patients. Make sure to get 10 to 15 minutes of sunlight daily with ideally in the early morning or late evening.
Regular, safe exposure to sunlight helps 95% of sufferers show signs of improvement. Avoid most commercial sunscreens that contain aggravating ingredients. Vitamin D can slow the growth of cells and change the way your immune system works.
The following remedies can help to treat psoriasis at home:
- Bathing rituals :
- Add 3 tablespoon of Epsom salt/ Dead sea salt and 5 tablespoons of oats powder into a warm (not hot) bucket of water. Soak the affected area for 10 minutes. (This may soften and remove scale caused by the flare. These methods may also soothe your skin and help with your urge to scratch.)
- After bathing or showering, you need to moisturize your skin. You should use fragrance-free, gentle products. You may just need a thin layer of lotion or a thicker cream or ointment.
- Apple cider vinegar rinse - Dilute apple cider vinegar with water at a ratio of 1:1 and use it to rinse it scalp after shampooing. You can make a lavender-infused apple cider vinegar rinse to further calm your scalp down. (Avoid using vinegar if you have open wounds, or if your skin is cracked or bleeding.)
- Showers should be no more than 10 minutes.
- Applying honey on the psoriasis plaque may also help. Honey has hydrating properties.
- Mix small piece of kapur (camphor) into coconut oil, add 3 drops of tea tree essential oil and 3 drops of myrrh oil. Apply this on the affected area 3-4 times a day
- Aloe vera - applied externally and taken internally, aloe vera is very soothing to the body, especially to the digestive system and skin.
- Apply ghee in your belly button daily before sleeping
Things to include in your diet :
- Eat lots of raw vegetables and fruits
Eating a diet of raw food with plenty of vegetables and non-citrus fruit. These, alongside good fats and oils, plus pre-soaked or fermented whole grains, nuts and legumes, (rich in vitamins A, B-complex and D, plus calcium, magnesium and zinc), are all important in helping reduce symptoms. Opt for fresh, seasonal, local produce, organic if you can. - Take an overall alkaline diet – aloe vera juice, wheatgrass juice, ash gourd juice can be incorporated into the diet.
- Turmeric -Turmeric has shown great potential in scientific studies supporting the reduction of inflammation, Use it in soups, sprinkled over fruit salads, golden milk (with plant milk as the base).
- Omega 3 Fatty acids - Present in abundant in natural nuts and seeds like flax seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, almonds, pistachio etc
(Omega-3 - 3 can fight inflammation as well as help your immune system.)
- High-fiber foods – Oats, Millets, Sprouts, Vegetables and fruits to balance blood sugar levels
- Foods high in vitamin A – like Mango, carrot, green leafy vegetables etc ( Avoid in excess if you are pregnant)
- Probiotics -Healthy skin starts from a healthy gut. Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that are present in fermented foods. Having the right balance of bacteria in the body may help the immune system.
Things to exclude –
- Sugar – All forms of syrups, cola, soda, high glycaemic foods
- No Junk Food
Eliminate all junk food from your diet. Avoid processed food, white flour, sugar, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, and citrus fruit. - Avoid Dairy
Milk, cheese, eggs, meat and poultry contain arachidonic acid; this may cause psoriasis lesions to turn red and swell - Avoid wheat and wheat products ( gluten can cause inflammation)
- Deep-fried, oily and spicy foods
- All nightshade plants like – chilies, brinjals, tomatoes, etc
Conclusion – Psoriasis is becoming more common due to the lifestyle habits of this generation. Lack of sunlight, proper sleep, and excessive stress makes it looks like it is impossible to cure, but if we take rest in the lap of nature, mother nature provides a cure to the most difficult diseases like this. Proper awareness, guidance, and patience is needed to treat psoriasis from its root cause. Mental support by family, friends, colleagues and an optimum environment is always needed.
