Hello Chandramika,

Dandruff is caused by many reasons, these reasons can be due to the pollution, hygiene and stress of our everyday life which increases our dandruff. The next important thing is to treat dandruff is with the application of home-based hair packs which have been used since our grandmothers by a gift of nature.

With an overall change in lifestyle and diet, dandruff can be treated very well in order to get a beautiful hair quality. Dandruff is generally the peeling of the skin which comes out in flakes. As mostly hygiene is the prime thing which we need to treat it properly.

Here is some tip which you can change in your diet completely for getting smooth, shiny, healthy, lustrous hair.


  • A diet rich in Vitamin C is something I would recommend you to start with Vitamin C helps in giving the skin collagen boost which improves the scalp health.
  • Aloe vera, almonds, Indian gooseberry is also another thing in the diet which you need to start with as they are very good for hair health.
  • A hair pack made from methi seeds powder is what is recommended. Grind the methi seeds powder, add one teaspoon honey and two tablespoons rose water. Apply it on your hair. Whenever you use this pack make sure your oil your hair at night so that methi seeds do not stick in your hair.
  • Another thing is regular coconut oil massage mixed with aloe vera gel. This will make sure of you getting healthy hair.
  • Using tree oil two-three drops in coconut oil for massage is also healthy.


Exercise helps in taking care of scalp health, what exercises you can do to prevent dandruff?

  • Rubbing your nails help in increasing blood circulation to the scalp, as hair anil protein is the same type, they help in boosting each other.
  • Chakrasana, by lying down on your back you twist your trunk and knees to opposite sides, helps in increasing blood circulation to the scalp.

Dandruff is a health condition that affects mainly the scalp which causes flakes of skin to appear. Dandruff causes irritation of the scalp and it is often accompanied by itching. The exact cause of dandruff is unknown, but various factors increase the risk. It is not related to poor hygiene, but it may be more visible if a person does not wash or brush their hair often. Some of the causes include stress that causes increased sebaceous secretions which causes the formation of the white flakes over the scalp region. It might be sometimes caused due to some side reactions of some drugs that one might be using for a long time, namely medications of hypertension, diabetes, etc. Dandruff affects adolescent ages than other age groups. Dandruff could be embarrassing and hard to treat, but help is available. This could cause some type of social stigma.

Management of dandruff aims to stop dandruff by bringing down the reproduction of skin cells or counteraction of the yeast that produces which is believed to be the cause. The strategy of management depends on the patient's age and how severe the condition is. However, by making some changes in lifestyle associated with some home remedies could help.

Some strategies are

  1. Manage stress: Stress, that is believed to trigger dandruff in some people, could be a way to reduce symptoms.
  2. Herbal Shampoo more often: Use herbal shampoos and it is always better to avoid chemical-based shampoos. Secondly, if you have oily hair and scalp, make a habit to wash your hair and scalp daily which could help.
  3. Expose to Sunlight: A little exposure to sunlight on a daily basis could be helpful.
  4. Apply Tea tree oil: Scientific evidence is very little on this measure but in some cases, applications of tea tree oil have helped a lot. Sometimes, It can cause allergic reactions in some people, so use caution before use. You may apply on the dorsal side of the palm as a test dose before applying it on the scalp. If you found no adverse reaction, then you may go with this method, else abandon it.

This is a condition where there is a shower of little white or yellow scales from the scalp when the patient brushes his/her hair. Nothing can spoil the appearance of a person more than DANDRUFF in the hair. Either in the powdery form or scales, this can result in falling of hair, itching (which can lead to inflamed skin), acne or patched skin. Dandruff is also known as seborrhoea. This name indicates that the diseased condition is due to an alteration in the secretions of the sebaceous glands-glands that are closely associated with the hair follicles. These secrete an oily substance which has a tremendous effect on keeping the skin, and hair healthy. When the sebaceous glands function in an abnormal manner, dirty yellow greasy masses of the epithelium may be seen over the scalp. This is called seborrhoea olesa or waxy seborrhoea. If this condition is allowed to persist, baldness may result. The condition where the discharged matter is dry, in scales, is called scaly seborrhoea if the discharge is very great, accompanied by intense itching sensation and falling of hair, it is known as pityriasis. There is also the condition known as seborrhoeic eczema, which is only eczema occurring in the seborrhoeic patches.

There are 'experts 'who hold weather to be the predisposing cause of dandruff. An increase in dandruff scales is very apparent in winter. The 'expert's 'say: This is because an already dry skin becomes drier in winter. Extra-dry skin itches. You scratch it with bacteria-carrying nails and the scalp get inflamed. The result is dandruff ". Another 'cause 'of dandruff as given by the 'experts ' is: "After washing hair with shampoo, it is not rinsed off completely with water. The remaining soap residue settles on the scalp and causes dandruff. Remember to use neither very hot nor very cold water, but use tepid water when bathing. "
The above are not the causes of dandruff. If the skin of an individual is dry even in summer and drier in winter, it is not the weather that is to be blamed. The individual 's eating and other habits of living are responsible for his failing skin health.

Again most of the shampoos are perfumed with various synthetic oils, any of which may harm the individual users .Soap makes the hair lose its natural lustre and the hair becomes brittle. Even where the shampoos soap is washed thoroughly and not 'allowed to settle on the scalp ', hair and skin health would get affected for the worse. Healthy hair needs neither shampoo nor soap. Many shampoos contain sulphur. Mixtures, which irritate the scalp. Again most of the shampoos are perfumed with various synthetic oils, any of which may harm the individual user. Soap makes the hair lose its natural lustre and the hair becomes brittle. Even where the shampoos/soap are washed thoroughly and not 'allowed to settle on the scalp 'hair and skin health would get affected for the worse. Let no one be carried away by the fear of so-called infection. Anyone who follows the hygienic lifestyle-- as advocated by the Science of Nature Cure-can helps himself/herself free from dandruff forever.
While brushes and combs have necessarily to be kept scrupulously clean, it need not, as medicos would advise you, be washed with antiseptics. The general advice "never lend or borrow hairbrushes or combs "is also meaningless.
Hair dyes, permanent wave lotions and other chemicals do affect the health of the scalp, and hence of the hair. The synthetic perfumes in many 'hair oils 'irritate the scalp. We would not recommend even ordinary shampoos. Medicated shampoos are worse; they may initially suppress the condition, but it would reappear later.
While dandruff may occur in any part of the body, it mostly occurs in the scalp. Why? The skin over the scalp is used as an extraordinary eliminating channel when the other eliminatory organs--the bowels, the kidneys, the lungs etc.--are functioning ineffectively and when even the rest of the skin is not allowed to function properly, for the reason that it is shut out from the air and sunlight for practically all the time.
Bathing by chlorinated water and hard water is equally hard and detrimental for the scalp in particular and hair in general. Endeavours should be to wash the hair by soft water. Chlorinated water should be kept in a wide mouth container and keep it in sun for few days to expel the chlorination and then used for washing the hair.

The sufferer is advised to keep the scalp clean. The hair should be washed twice or thrice a week or where possible daily. It is advisable to precede the wash by a fairly vigorous rub of the scalp with some herbal bathing oil (log onto the recipe section of Wellcure).This may be done only for a few minutes each time. This rub would open the pores of the skin and the wash following it would ensure maximum cleanliness. Medicos recommend the various chemical products etc. For the wash, but it doesn't need any great arguments to point out that the application of the chemical would weaken it. The sufferer is advised to use gram flour or the powder of a nut known as Shikakai. Immediately after the wash, the hair should be dried by a clean towel. The scalp may then be exposed to the sunlight for a few minutes. A few drops may then of herbal bathing oil may thereafter be used, before combining the hair.
What has been recommended above is, however, only for ensuring local cleanliness of the scalp. The root cause of complaint, the catarrhal condition of the system, should be attended to, if a radical cure is what is sought. The diet should be reformed on hygienic lines, so that the hair follicles may be supplied with the nutrition that they require, through the general blood circulation
If the diet is deficient in vitamins and mineral salts the nails, hair, etc. are deprived of their share of these.
This is one of the main reasons why various kinds of hair disorders develop. Hence,**diet reform on hygienic lines is the first step that ought to be taken in dealing with such complaints. What is advocated is not the addition or deletion of a particular item of food but a total food reform. A predominantly positive diet is to be taken moderately, according to the hunger, with due regard to the law of Vital Economy. Manufactured and processed foods, as also refined and stale foods have no place in a health-seeker's daily menu. Let it be remembered that it is not possible to feed the hair roots by external applications. The artificial preparations on sale in the market-the so-called hair tonics are not at all to be relied upon. Besides reforming his diet the sufferer is advised to take to the other health-culture methods, as occasional fasting for two or three days. each time, the daily (Or occasional)application of the non-violent enema, sun-bathing, the spinal-bath-these are some of the methods that are advocated for the improvement of general health. Adopting a total approach is advocated.

कारण - स्कैल्प की त्वचा की मृत परत, जिसे हम रूसी कहते हैं, बालों से जुड़ी कई बड़ी समस्याओं का कारण हो सकती है। यह सूखी त्वचा, तेलयुक्त त्वचा, सिर पर जीवाणुओं और कवक के विकास और अन्य ऐसे कारकों की वजह से हो सकती है। यह एक तरह का संक्रमण है। जो कि सिर के अंदर ऑक्सीजन का पर्याप्तत संचार ना होनेे के वजह से होता है। 
पाचन तंत्र के स्वस्थ ना रहने पर ऑक्सीजन और रक्त संचार में कमी आती है। प्राकृतिक जीवन शैली को अपनाकर पूर्ण स्वास्थ्य लाभ लिया जा सकता है।
समाधान- 1. सिर को धोने केे लिए नींबू और पुदीना का रस मिला सकते हैं। या 25 g मेथी के दाने रात भर पानी मेंंं भिगोकर रखें।
 सुबह इन्हें पीस कर छान लें। इसे 200ml पानी मेंं मिला कर सिर के त्वचा पर लगाएं और 20 मिनट बाद सादे पानी से इसेेेे साफ कर लें।2.खाना खाने से एक घंटे पहले नाभि के ऊपर गीला सूती कपड़ा लपेट कर रखें या खाना के 2 घंटे बाद भी ऐसा कर सकते हैं।

मेरुदंड (स्पाइन) सीधा करके बैठें। हमेशा इस बात ध्यान रखें और हफ़्ते में 3 दिन मेरुदंड का स्नान करें। मेरुदंड स्नान के लिए अगर टब ना हो तो एक मोटा तौलिया गीला कर लें बिना निचोरे उसको बिछा लें और अपने मेरुदंड को उस स्थान पर रखें। 

सर पर सूती कपड़ा बाँध कर उसके ऊपर खीरा और मेहंदी या करी पत्ते का पेस्ट लगाएँ,नाभि पर खीरा का पेस्ट लगाएँ।पैरों को 20 मिनट के लिए सादे पानी से भरे किसी बाल्टी या टब में डूबो कर रखें।

जीवन शैली - 1आकाश तत्व - एक खाने से दुसरे खाने के बीच में अंतराल (gap) रखें।

फल के बाद 3 घंटे, सलाद के बाद 5 घंटे, और पके हुए खाने के बाद 12 घंटे का (gap) रखें।

2.वायु तत्व - प्राणायाम करें, आसन करें। दौड़ लगाएँ।

3.अग्नि - सूर्य की रोशनी लें।

4.जल - अलग अलग तरीक़े का स्नान करें। मेरुदंड स्नान, हिप बाथ, गीले कपड़े की पट्टी से पेट की गले और सर की 20 मिनट के लिए सेक लगाए। 

स्पर्श थरेपी करें। मालिश के ज़रिए भी कर सकते है।

कपूर मिश्रित नारियल तेल से त्वचा के उस हिस्से की मालिश करें जहां पर समस्या है।  घड़ी की सीधी दिशा (clockwise) में और घड़ी की उलटी दिशा (anti clockwise)में मालिश करें। नरम हाथों से बिल्कुल भी प्रेशर नहीं दें।

5.पृथ्वी - सुबह खीरा 1/2 भाग धनिया पत्ती (10 ग्राम) पीस लें, 100 ml पानी मिला कर पीएँ। यह juice आप कई प्रकार के ले सकते हैं। पेठे (ashguard ) का जूस लें और कुछ नहीं लेना है। नारियल पानी भी ले सकते हैं। पालक  पत्ते धो कर पीस कर 100ml पानी डाल पीएँ। दुब घास 25 ग्राम पीस कर छान कर 100 ml पानी में मिला कर पीएँ। कच्चे सब्ज़ी का जूस आपका मुख्य भोजन है। 2 घंटे बाद फल नाश्ते में लेना है।

फल को चबा कर खाएँ। इसका juice ना लें। फल सूखे फल नाश्ते में लें।

दोपहर के खाने में सलाद नट्स और अंकुरित अनाज के साथ  सलाद में हरे पत्तेदार सब्ज़ी को डालें और नारियल पीस कर मिलाएँ। कच्चा पपीता 50 ग्राम कद्दूकस करके डालें। कभी सीताफल ( yellow pumpkin)50 ग्राम ऐसे ही डालें। कभी सफ़ेद पेठा (ashgurd) 30 ग्राम कद्दूकस करके डालें। ऐसे ही ज़ूकीनी 50 ग्राम डालें।कद्दूकस करके डालें।कभी काजू बादाम अखरोट मूँगफली भिगोए हुए पीस कर मिलाएँ। 

लाल, हरा, पीला शिमला मिर्च 1/4 हिस्सा हर एक का मिलाएँ। लें। बिना नींबू और नमक के लें। स्वाद के लिए नारियल और herbs मिलाएँ।

रात के खाने में इस अनुपात से खाना खाएँ 2 कटोरी सब्ज़ी के साथ 1कटोरी चावल या 1रोटी लेएक बार पका हुआ खाना रात को 7 बजे से पहले लें।

6.सेंधा नमक केवल एक बार पके हुए खाने में लें। जानवरों से उपलब्ध होने वाले भोजन वर्जित हैं।

तेल, मसाला, और गेहूँ से परहेज़ करेंगे तो अच्छा होगा। चीनी के जगह गुड़ लें।

7.एक नियम हमेशा याद रखें ठोस(solid) खाने को चबा कर तरल (liquid) बना कर खाएँ। तरल  को मुँह में घूँट घूँट पीएँ। खाना ज़मीन पर बैठ कर खाएँ। खाते वक़्त ना तो बात करें और ना ही TV और mobile को देखें।ठोस  भोजन के तुरंत बाद या बीच बीच में जूस या पानी ना लें। भोजन हो जाने के एक घंटे बाद तरल पदार्थ ले सकते हैं।

हफ़्ते में एक दिन उपवास करें। शाम तक केवल पानी लें, प्यास लगे तो ही पीएँ। शाम 5 बजे नारियल पानी और रात 8 बजे सलाद लें।

8.उपवास के अगले दिन किसी प्राकृतिक चिकित्सक के देख रेख में टोना लें। जिससे आँत की प्रदाह को शांत किया जा सके। एनिमा किट मँगा लें। यह किट ऑनलाइन मिल जाएगा। इससे 200ml पानी गुदाद्वार से अंदर डालें और प्रेशर आने पर मल त्याग करें। ऐसा दिन में दो बार करना है अगले 21 दिनों के लिए। ये करना है ताकि शरीर में मोजुद विषाणु निष्कासित हो जाये। इसके बाद हफ़्ते में केवल एक बार लेना है उपवास के अगले दिन। टोना का फ़ायदा तभी होगा जब आहार शुद्धि करेंगे।
