My daughter is 13 yrs. She complains of acid reflux and heartburn. Sometimes slight heaviness in the center of the head. After drinking or eating she feels better. I am giving homeopathy medicine. But still not better. What to do?

Hello Sharadha,

Regular consumption of fatty diet and highly spiced food, toxins are the primary cause of any health issue. What needs to be taken care of now is,  that a major change in lifestyle and diet will have to be made to cure this problem.  It is not only heartburn, with the consumption of this kind of food, what becomes an issue is from the esophagus to rectum everything gets disturbed. The toxins are in the body, call it acidity or infection they relate to the same cause.

With a healthy change in the diet and your routine, we can deal with all the issues related to the problem of acid reflux and heartburn. What makes a major difference is by changing lifestyles, we are not only curing the disease at this stage but also preventing it. And also your kid will adopt a healthy lifestyle for a lifetime.

Now let us understand what changes we can make:

Eat:

Start her day with something light in nature and easy to digest. Breakfast should be of the kind of nutrients that get absorbed easily. The early morning ritual should include consumption of two-three glasses of warm water, it will help in flushing out all the toxins. The next thing is including a fiber-rich food item which helps in adding bulk to the stools, for example having apples, bananas, nuts, etc. which has a good amount of fiber in them.

Seeds are a good source of vitamins, flax seeds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds are easily available. An evening with one tablespoon of chia seeds soaked in water with one tablespoon of lemon juice is a rich combination for vitamin absorption.

Exercise:

  • Sitting in the position of Vajraasana will help in the treatment of any digestive tract. After your meals practice, this pose for better digestion and easy stools.
  • A brisk walk in early morning sun from 30-45 minutes, helps in treating your body to its level best. Sun is a great source of Vitamin D that is why walking in the sun and connecting with the sun also help in activating our cells and rejuvenate us for the whole day.                                                                                     

 Meditation:

In any kind of disease, stress comes complementary to it, but with our assurance and positive attitude, we can treat anything. The best thing to start with is breathing mindfully before sleep with the help of music to stay positive.

Tell your little one to sit crossed-legged on the floor, and say " I am healthy and happy" Repeat it with each breath and imagine oneself to be healthy this will help a lot in long run. 

A positive attitude will help you to deal with everything in life.

Sleep:

Sleeping for at least 7-8 hours is really helpful in dealing with any problem, sleep is our body's natural response and helps the body to heal. Sleep relaxes the muscles and strengthens our body.

Hello,

Children have a habit of eating junk foods and they like spicy foods ,fried foods more.They don't have an understanding about what is good and bad for their health.Because of this ,they indulge in various health problems. 

Diet-

  • Pay attention to the kind of food that your daughter eat.
  • Keep her on a natural diet.
  • Include fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables, salads in her diet.
  • Give her whole grains like wheat, barley oats.
  • Give her sufficient fluids, have fresh fruit juices, coconut water.
  • She should take her meals on time.

Exercise and yoga

  • With the correct diet, physical activity is equally important. 
  • Start her day with a brisk morning walk.
  • Indulge her in outdoor games like basketball, volleyball, football. 
  • Ask her to do some simple asanas like bhujanga asana,tada asana,kapalbhati.

Sleep

Pay attention to a proper good quality sleep and sufficient hours sleep.

She should take atleast 8hours of sleep.

Things to avoid 

  • Avoid dairy products. 
  • Avoid tea and coffee. 
  • Avoid animal foods. 
  • Try to avoid packaged foods and oily, deep-fried foods. 
  • Avoid sleeping till late in the morning. 

Habits 

  • Maintain proper hygiene. 
  • Wash hands before any meal.
  • Take shower regularly. 
  • Go to bed early at night. 
  • Walk barefoot on grass in the morning.

My daughter has a similar issue and has healed well. Her appetite has improved a lot and she is a normal child now. It’s been about 5yrs since she has healed now.

Acid reflux is definitely curable. Due to an incorrect lifestyle, accumulation of toxins would have become the breeding ground for a lot of bacteria and viruses in the body. This weakens your gut and weakens the liver which becomes a storeroom for the pile of toxins. Anything that does not belong to the category of fruits veggies and greens goes to the list of toxins - bad smells , chemicals medicines anything. Overtime bile becomes less potent and this taxes the stomach and strength of HCL in the stomach becomes less. As that becomes less , this can increase the acidity of the stomach due to other bad acids and bacteria that’s thriving. So the acid reflux happens. It’s not the HCL of the body which actually is protecting you. Its other things that are not supposed to be there comes out burning your oesophageal lining. 

- keep her on fluids / juices for majority of the day for 10 days. If hungry let her have fruits. 

- keep a wet cloth on her tummy for 30 mins twice a day 

After 10 days :- 

1) quit dairy eggs meat fish, sugar, processed foods and ready to eat foods. Refined oils and anything that is polished. You should also avoid all kinds of fried food and oil in your cooked food. 

2)  drink 500ml of pure cucumber juice on empty stomach daily morning 

3) followed by fruits for breakfast

4) feed her only when she is hungry. Don’t eat as per the clock

5) She must eat mindfully. Chew food thoroughly and swallow. 

6) 2.5- 3 lts of fluids daily - juices / water / tender coconut 

7) don’t use oil in cooking , remove gluten dairy eggs meat fish  from her diet. 

8) continue wet cloth 

9) sun exposure 30mins 

Keep your stomach as less busy as possible without any solids but flooding with liquids as this helps your bad acids clear up when you have an attack.

The symptoms that your present and disturbing your sleep suggests that you suffer from GERD. GERD also is known as gastroesophageal reflux disease is a chronic disease of the digestive tract that occurs when the stomach acid or bile flows up into the oesophagus or the food pipe, causing irritation to the lining. Nothing to worry, GERD is curable. Not immediately but definitely if you could follow some simple natural methods. GERD and heartburn are always associated with each other. The best way to treat GERD is to zero in on the underlying cause of your acid reflux and correct it. Which means to cut down or avoid all those triggering factors responsible for GERD in your body.

Modifications in your diet and lifestyle habits can help improve one's condition.

Follow the natural ways and methods enlisted as below

• Always go for a bland and binding diet such as Banana, brown rice and boiled vegetables. These foods are bland and binding which will prevent further reflux and vomiting. Bananas also contain potassium and other minerals which can help replace nutrients lost from vomiting. They are easy for digestion and absorption as well.

• Follow regular eating time. Maintaining a long gap between each meal can stimulate excess gastric acid secretion triggering acidity that can lead to reflux.

• Eat meals in smaller quantity and properly chewed. This will help relieve the burden on your guts and improves digestion and absorption at a better pace. Eat only when you're hungry so as to avoid unnecessary triggers.

• Chewing a slice of ginger or drinking ginger juice or tea several times a day can help neutralise the acidity, ease nausea and vomiting.

• Vomiting can be dehydrating. Make sure you take in plenty of water or other clear liquids. Take small sips. Try Ice chips if to substitute normal water drinking. Caffeine-free tea such as peppermint, ginger and lemon can be equally helpful as well.

• Do not eat anything right after vomiting but drink a clear liquid such as water, soup or herbal tea. Caution to be taken that you never over eat.

• Avoid midnight snacks or eating before sleep

• Bend your knees while bending forward so as to avoid pressure in your stomach.

• Animal food, dairy products, oily foods, fibres, caffeine, soda, alcohol, artificial preservatives added food and any processed foods should be avoided completely.

• Go for an early morning walk or jog daily. Utilise 45 minutes to an hour daily for any physical activity which will help boost your body's metabolic activity and mind.

Leave a gap of at least 2-3 hours gap between your dinner and sleep.

कारण - हम जो भी कुछ खा पी रहे हैं वह शरीर में ठीक प्रकार से हजम नहीं हो रहा है। इस वजह से अम्ल की अधिकता हो रही है। अम्ल की अधिकता होने पर ऑक्सीजन और रक्त संचाार में कमी आती है। तंत्र स्वास्थ्य ना रहने पर हमारे शरीर में अम्ल की अधिकता हो जाती है और अम्ल की अधिकता से ऑक्सीजन और रक्त के संचार में कमी आती है। जो कि सर केेेेे भारीपन या सर में  दर्द का कारण बनता है। प्राकृतिक जीवन शैली को अपनाकर हम पूर्ण स्वास्थ्य पा सकते हैं।

समाधान- 1. किसी भी संक्रमण के स्तिथि में मेरुदंड स्नान काफी लाभकारी होता है यह हमारे स्नायु तंत्र को स्वस्थ रखता है । एक मोटा तोलिया लेकर उसको भिगो दें बिना निचोड़े योगा मैट पर बिछाए और उसके ऊपर कमर से लेकर के कंधे तक का हिस्सा रखें। उस गीले तौलिए पर रहे 20 मिनट के बाद इसको हटा दें। ऐसा करने से आप का मेरुदंड में ब्लड और ऑक्सीजन का सरकुलेशन ठीक हो जाएगा।

2. पेट पर एक गीला तोलिया निचोड़ कर बांधे 20 मिनट बाद उसको हटाए ऐसा करने से पाचन तंत्र की स्वास्थ्य में सुधार की शुद्धि आएगी। शरीर में अम्ल का प्रभाव कम होगा।

3. बेलपत्र और दूब घास का जूस सुबह खाली पेट ले 4 से 5 बेलपत्र को पीसकर 200ml पानी मिलाकर छान लें और इसको मुंह में 40 गिनने तक रख कर पिए।

 ऐसा करने से आप का संक्रमण ठीक हो जाएगा ऐसे ही दूब घास भी 20 ग्राम लेकर मिक्सी में पीस लें 200ml पानी मिलाकर छान लें और इसे भी मुंह में 40 गिनने तक रख कर पिए। ये आंतों के संक्रमण के लिए उपयोगी है।

जीवन शैली - 1. आकाश तत्व - एक खाने से दुसरे खाने के बीच में अंतराल (gap) रखें।

फल के बाद 3 घंटे, सलाद के बाद 5 घंटे, और पके हुए खाने के बाद 12 घंटे का (gap) रखें।

2.वायु तत्व - प्राणायाम करें, आसन करें। दौड़ लगाएँ।

3.अग्नि - सूर्य की रोशनी लें।

4.जल - अलग अलग तरीक़े का स्नान करें। मेरुदंड स्नान, हिप बाथ, गीले कपड़े की पट्टी से पेट की गले और सर की 20 मिनट के लिए सेक लगाए। 

स्पर्श थरेपी करें। मालिश के ज़रिए भी कर सकते है।

तिल के तेल रीढ़ की हड्डी पर घड़ी की सीधी दिशा (clockwise) में और घड़ी की उलटी दिशा (anti clockwise)में मालिश करें। नरम हाथों से बिल्कुल भी प्रेशर नहीं दें।

5.पृथ्वी - सुबह खीरा 1/2 भाग धनिया पत्ती (10 ग्राम) पीस लें, 100 ml पानी मिला कर पीएँ। यह juice आप कई प्रकार के ले सकते हैं। पेठे (ashguard ) का जूस लें और कुछ नहीं लेना है। नारियल पानी भी ले सकते हैं। पालक  पत्ते धो कर पीस कर 100ml पानी डाल पीएँ। दुब घास 25 ग्राम पीस कर छान कर 100 ml पानी में मिला कर पीएँ। कच्चे सब्ज़ी का जूस आपका मुख्य भोजन है। 2 घंटे बाद फल नाश्ते में लेना है। 

फल को चबा कर खाएँ। इसका juice ना लें। फल सूखे फल नाश्ते में लें।

दोपहर के खाने में सलाद नट्स और अंकुरित अनाज के साथ  सलाद में हरे पत्तेदार सब्ज़ी को डालें और नारियल पीस कर मिलाएँ। कच्चा पपीता 50 ग्राम कद्दूकस करके डालें। कभी सीताफल ( yellow pumpkin)50 ग्राम ऐसे ही डालें। कभी सफ़ेद पेठा (ashgurd) 30 ग्राम कद्दूकस करके डालें। ऐसे ही ज़ूकीनी 50 ग्राम डालें।कद्दूकस करके डालें।कभी काजू बादाम अखरोट मूँगफली भिगोए हुए पीस कर मिलाएँ। 

लाल, हरा, पीला शिमला मिर्च 1/4 हिस्सा हर एक का मिलाएँ। लें। बिना नींबू और नमक के लें। स्वाद के लिए नारियल और herbs मिलाएँ।

रात के खाने में इस अनुपात से खाना खाएँ 2 कटोरी सब्ज़ी के साथ 1कटोरी चावल या 1रोटी लेएक बार पका हुआ खाना रात को 7 बजे से पहले लें।

7.एक नियम हमेशा याद रखें ठोस(solid) खाने को चबा कर तरल (liquid) बना कर खाएँ। तरल  को मुँह में घूँट घूँट पीएँ। खाना ज़मीन पर बैठ कर खाएँ। खाते वक़्त ना तो बात करें और ना ही TV और mobile को देखें।ठोस  भोजन के तुरंत बाद या बीच बीच में जूस या पानी ना लें। भोजन हो जाने के एक घंटे बाद तरल पदार्थ ले सकते हैं।

हफ़्ते में एक दिन उपवास करें। शाम तक केवल पानी लें, प्यास लगे तो ही पीएँ। शाम 5 बजे नारियल पानी और रात 8 बजे सलाद लें।

8. उपवास के अगले दिन किसी प्राकृतिक चिकित्सक के देख रेख में टोना लें। जिससे आँत की प्रदाह को शांत किया जा सके। एनिमा किट मँगा लें। यह किट ऑनलाइन मिल जाएगा। इससे 200ml पानी गुदाद्वार से अंदर डालें और प्रेशर आने पर मल त्याग करें। ऐसा दिन में दो बार करना है अगले 21 दिनों के लिए। ये करना है ताकि शरीर में मोजुद विषाणु निष्कासित हो जाये। इसके बाद हफ़्ते में केवल एक बार लेना है उपवास के अगले दिन। टोना का फ़ायदा तभी होगा जब आहार शुद्धि करेंगे।
