My uncle has diabetes. His sugar levels are very high, 300+. Can he take jaggery based sweets? I have seen lots of recipes on wellcure.

Well! jaggery is certainly a less refined food item than the regular white sugar. It is still sweet! Anyone who substitutes white sugar with jaggery still needs to do it in moderation. A diabetic needs to be all the more cautious. Your uncle must always make any dietary changes in consultation with the doctor only.

No he cannot consume jaggery. It’s another form of sugar that’s less refined that’s all. Please check the Journeys section to understand how to heal from diabetes and once body heals he can have some jaggery occasionally and understand how to deal with the eliminations and manage the body better. But in his current condition jaggery is absolutely not recommended. Not even the fancier forms of jaggery that speak of low glycemic index.

I wouldn't advise that as jaggery is sans fibre. Better to stick to dates or raisins or sweet fruits.

However, jaggery or other forms of sugar is not the real cause of diabetes. The processed foods, animal based foods like meat, eggs, dairy and refined oils need to be drastically reduced.
