Give him fruits and coconut water every alternate hour if he takes it. They are cleansers; should help. When u r bathing him apply coconut oil and then wash it off. Also no soap. U can use besan with rose water/water, however this may not be needed when he has a rash. You could do this once rash has subsided. Also, give lemon-honey, coconut water, melons. Cucumber juice or salad whatever he prefers. Also, remember in terms of rest he should sleep 10 hrs.

Hi... My child did not have hives when a kid, but he would get allergic patches on his hands and legs. Here is what I would do.  I stopped using any soap at all altogether.  I moved mostly to water baths. Since he was bathing once or twice daily it ensured no dirt accumulated. Later I moved to natural no chemical soaps but even with the mildest one rashes were quick to appear once in a while. I was suggested fruit pulps such as Papaya and besan – but both turned out to be harsh for skin when he was young.  As he grew up, I sometimes now wash him with besan mixed with rose water.

Any allergic reaction is body’s way of throwing out toxins.  And its actually a good sign that the body is functioning absolutely fine.

A few things you could do to support your child’s body and this itchy time is as follows:

  • Feed only when hungry. Do not force feed at all.

  • Keep raw, hydrating foods such as fruits up: Fruit act as natural internal cleansers.  So in this period make sure there is ample dose of fruits. Make sure he gets up and has raisins and his first meal is a big bowl of fruits/ fruit pulp or fruit smoothie (without any milk).

  • Keep the vegetables and raw veggies very high: Again most of his meals must comprise of vegetables and very high doses of that.  You can give veggies in form of raw salads and juices. Incase he is refusing to eat raw veggies, just grate or make some yummy chutney by adding some nice nut of choice (coconut, peanut, kaju or almond).  This will ensure the cleansing process is quick and fast.

  • You can give him veggies as soups and steamed veggies too.  Sprinkle lemon juice, and herbs of choice such as pudina, dhaniya or dried herbs. Do not cook in refined oil! (That’ll leach the veggies of much important enzymes!)

  • Add nuts and sprouts: Kids do not eat nuts and sprouts easily, but you can make yummy chutneys (Yes even of raw sprouts and give to your child).

  • Make peanut based, cashew based or coconut based curries with veggies and give as full meals.  Though ofcourse the most ideal is to keep on fruits every 2 hours. If his apetite is low (which is more likely to be the case then do not force feed).

  • Keep dairy, wheat, other grains off for the time period.  Keep chips, chocolates, sauces, breads and processed foods off completely for the time period till the rashes subside.

Keep faith.  Body will do its wonderful work.  Give ample hugs, love and care to your child.

Rash is a form of elimination from the skin. Avoiding animal derived products is a sure way to prevent it. In addition to that refined oils, processed foods, polished foods, chemicals on the skin might effect few kids.

When symptoms are severe it’s better to keep the child on 1-2 days of liquids only and fruits for best results.

Adding more natural liquids without sugar / jaggery will flush the toxins out and clear the skin faster. To eat fruits are the best meal. If cooked is expected, keep it once a day in the nights with steamed veggies and if child wants grains, restrict it to oil free dairy free kichidi or Pongal. Some plain rasam with veggies. Avoid oils in his food. So don’t miss to keep him high on liquids. Apply coconut oil to keep it moist from outside although healing happens only from inside his body... there are various cases of healing in the journeys section especially for kids. Please go through that.

Hi... During allergic reaction for my kids, we used to stop or reduce cooked food; We would keep them mostly on fruits and raw salads. There would definitely be no milk, eggs, non veg and grains. If the child wants to eat cooked food, then I would give steamed veggies in coconut or cashew curry .  Take him out in fresh air and sunlight. Give lots of love n care to child. Body will heal on its own.

Hi, for relief, you could do cold compress.  If very itchy use a soft paint brush instead of plain hands. You could use some organic rose water and apply on skin for relief.  Vision fresh can be ordered from Amazon. You can keep this in the fridge for cooling effect

Also focus on the rest and sleep of the child.  Only during sleep will the body work to cleanse and repair, and remove all toxicity.  Thus its important you give him ample rest time. Make sure he is sleeping 10 hours at night at stretch. Reduce his Ipad / TV / gadget time.  Make sure he is sleeping in darkness as this helps body sleep deeper and better. Also create ambient lighting during evenings instead of jarring lights at home.  If you cannot do it for entire home, ensure you do this for his room. If possible allow him to nap in the afternoon too

The more he sleeps, the faster his body will recover.
