Raw Mango Chutney - add green to your plate!

Chutneys are a quick way to add raw to your meals and they work wonders to accentuate even the otherwise simple dishes. Here is one such recipe using kaccha aam and coriander. This recipe yield a delectable chutney with a perfect balance of tangy, spicy and sweet. You could of course play around to make it more tangy or spicy or sweet, as per your liking. And guess what, it's a simple and quick-to-do recipe!

Ingredients
  • Raw mango - ½ (medium size)
  • Green chilli - ½
  • Ginger - ½ inch
  • Cumin seeds - ½ teaspoon
  • Chopped coriander leaves- 1 cup
  • Jaggery powder -2 teaspoon
  • Rock salt - As per taste
  • Water- 1 tbsp
Method
  • Wash the raw mango thoroughly. Peel and cut it into small chunks, discard the seed.
  • Add the mango pieces, ginger, green chilli,cumin seeds, jaggery and salt in a jar.
  • Grind them into a medium coarse paste.
  • Finally, add the coriander leaves along with very little water, grind to a smooth paste. Serve it as an accompaniment with snacks or meals.

Eating Guide

  • Food group: Vegetable (Raw Mango until ripe, falls in vegetable category)
  • Can be combined with other food groups like your cooked meals(except fruits)
  • Raw mango is a great addition in vegetable juices and salads. Simply chop and add to salads for zing or have it as delectable chutneywith meals.
