Watermelon and Mint Chuskee

Craving for something chilled to sip on during the hot summer months! Here’s a super quick recipe to make your own fruit chiller at home simply using watermelon and mint! It makes for a juicy chuskee which is sure to quench your thirst and satisfy your craving the healthy way - no added colours or processed sugar. This summer, make the most of watermelons - eat them and sip them to keep yourself hydrated.
A great option for kids when you want to ditch the packaged juices or ice-cream lollies!
Ingredients
- Watermelon: about a quarter
- Fresh Mint leaves: 5-6
- Honey with Lemon juice: 1 Tsp
Method
- Take a quarter of a watermelon. De-seed with a spoon, scoop out the red flesh and cut into chunks
- Put into a blender. Blend well into a smooth pulp. If in a hurry you can simply cut and put in a blender.
- Add the mint leaves in the last spin to avoid bitterness.
- Use a soup sieve to strain the granules.
- Add a few more washed mint leaves and a few drops of lemon honey juice, if you like.
- Pour into an ice cube tray and let it sit till its semi-solid, retaining its icy flaky consistency.
- Take the cube out of the tray and crack into pieces to fill into a glass.
- You can pour the mixture into a lolly-moulds or place sticks in the cubes in paper-glass (when semi-solid). Your chuskee is ready!
- You can also allow the cubes to set completely, add into a wine glass and sip on a hot summer day.
Eating guide:
- Food group: Fruits (Melons)
- Best to eat alone. Do not mix with other fruits.
- Keep a gap of 45 mins, before eating next thing (or have 2 hours after a meal)
- You can drink in the morning or hot afternoons / early evenings!
