Mango jam – raw & natural!

Mangoes are relished by kids in all forms. While there are many variants of mango jams that may be available in the market, these are loaded with sugar, artificial colours & preservatives. Here is a recipe to make your mango jam at home – raw & natural! Enjoy!

Ingredients
  • Sweet, ripe, seasonal mangoes like alphonso:2 cups
  • Chia or sabja seeds:2 tsp or more
Method
  • Peel and remove the pulp of the mangoes.
  • Make a smooth puree.
  • Add chia seeds to the puree and leave it for a couple of hours.
  • It becomes thick jelly like and the chia seeds help bind it.
  • If you feel the jam is runny, add one tsp of chia seeds at a time, leave it for a couple of hours and check again.
  • It will stay good for a couple of days in the fridge.

Wellcure Tips:

  • It will not have a thick, sticky consistency like store-bought cooked jam.
  • If your child does not want to see chia seeds in the jam, you can puree it again. But still some specks will be seen.
  • Add some honey or agave/maple syrup if the mangoes are not sweet enough.

  • Fruits are the easiest to digest and are packed with fibre & nutrition. Hence a great addition to your kids' intake.
