Cabbage & Pomegranate Salad - add raw to your diet!

Eating with the season is a simple way to incorporate both, variety and nutrition into your diet. Also, seasonal vegetables are inexpensive and easily available. Reach out for cabbage, when in season and combine with simple ingredients to make a yummy raw salad.

  • Cabbage - 1 cup (grated)
  • Pomegranate - ½
  • Mustard seeds - ¼ tsp
  • Cumin seeds- ¼ tsp
  • Curry leaves - 4-5
  • Asafoetida- A pinch
  • Rock Salt - As per taste
  • Lemon juice - to taste
  • Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp
  • In a large mixing bowl, add pomegranate seeds.
  • Mix grated cabbage with pomegranate seeds.
  • Next, preheat a pan and add the mustard seeds. Once they pop, add the cumin seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida. Add this spice mixture to the cabbage and pomegranate.
  • Add salt and lemon juice as required and mix well.
  • Garnish with coriander before serving.

  • Pomegranate is an exception to the rule of not mixing fruits with veggies. It can be added to raw veggie salads.
