Turnip Salad - simple & quick to do!

Eating seasonal veggies is a great way to get the best of taste and nutrition that nature meant for us! But we often find ourselves struggling to find ways of incorporating certain vegetables, like turnip. Try making this simple turnip salad and enjoy!

Ingredients
  • Turnip- 1 (medium sized)
  • Red onion – ½ (sliced)
  • Rock Salt – as per taste
  • Black Pepper- as per taste
  • Spinach – handful (chopped and steamed)
  • Lemon juice - as per taste
  • Rock salt as per taste (optional)
Method
  • Wash, peel and grate the turnip.
  • Steam the spinach for 3-5 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl, add the steamed spinach, turnip, red onion and toss these ingredients adding pepper to taste. You may choose to add very little salt or even skip the same to make it healthier!
  • Add lemon juice and serve!

Eating Guide:

  • Food Group: Vegetables
  • By adding green leafy vegetables to salads, you may skip the salt, hence making it even healthier. This may not happen immediately. Gradually as you get more and more of minerals from veggies, you may notice a shift in your salt cravings as well!
  • Have your cooked meals along with raw salads. This way you help your body digest the cooked food.
