This papaya drink is yet another simple, quick-to-do recipe with minimum ingredients. It is an alternate way of consuming papayas, especially for toddlers who sometimes resist eating papayas. You can make them drink! Adding honey accentuates the sweetness and lemon lends a little tanginess to this drink. A great way to replace sugar laden shakes and juices for a healthy breakfast! Get the ripest papaya you can find with your fruitvendor, and churn into a smoothie.
Papaya: 1 Large
Honey: to taste
Lemon juice from 1 full lemon
Water: ½ cup
Wash, peel and deseed the papaya, cut into small pieces.
Add the papaya and with water into the blender and grind into a smoothie consistency.
Add honey as per the sweetness desired.
Mix the lemon juice to the above juice and stir well and serve chilled!
You can also add soaked dates or date paste instead of honey.
Food group : Fruits (raw)
Best time to eat: mornings as part of first meal. Can be eaten as an evening snack too.
Great way to up fruits for kids.
Do remember to eat your fruits alone, not mixed with meals. Smoothies are also a meal by themselves for babies who are being weaned.
