Facing sleep issues? Soak your feet in water and relax

A 101 things to do everyday; we are all the time playing catch up never realizing how the day went by. However, everyone needs a little ‘me’ time. Soak your feet in some warm water, close your eyes and relax with some music – and you have a spa treatment at home!

Every day, from morning to night, we are always running around, trying to accomplish one thing or the other. Our body works best when it is in a relaxed mode.

Hence, take out time during the day to drop off everything you are doing & rest for a few minutes every few hours. Lie down on the bed or on the floor with your eyes closed. Try not to think anything. Don’t talk to anyone, just be with yourself. You can play some soothing music in the background.

Soaking your feet in water is also a great way to unwind & relax. Our feet are connected to every part of the body & the healing power of water brings relaxation and draws out toxins of the body through sweat glands in the feet. This activity when done on a regular basis can work wonders for our sleep, tiredness and stress levels.

  1. Counting sheep at night, unable to sleep? Dip your feet in hot water daily for 15 minutes just before sleeping. Do this for 15 days and see the difference!
  2. Have had a long adrenalin rushed day at work? De-activate and soak your worries away
  3. Tired after wearing killer-heels at a party? No problem… Dip your feet and see the tiredness melt
  4. Have heel pain on regular basis? Most men shy away from pampering their feet. But this simple do-it-at home technique can work wonders for heel pain which many men suffer from



How to do:

  • Fill a bucket with hot water – keep it as hot as your feet can tolerate
  • Keep 2 mugs of piping hot water nearby – add them in as water starts to cool
  • Dip your feet for 15 minutes
  • Dim the room lights / Put a lamp on (Optional)
  • Put on some relaxing instrumental music (Optional)
  • Add your favourite aroma oil – Lavender works best for its relaxing properties (Optional)
  • Relax!!

Sponge dry with a towel once you are through & go to sleep. The ‘soak your feet’ routine can easily be done by men too.
