I usually pick salads,  fruits and fill myself. In absence of those it’s rice and rasam or mixed rice. I always avoid dairy, sweets, fried, wheat, maida, gravy which can contain dairy creams. Anything that does not fall in this category, I make an exception and have.

In cases where I know I won’t find much, I give an excuse that my stomach is upset and I come back home and have or I have and go make an excuse. I pay more attention to my presence there more than me eating some food served in a buffet.

Start with sweets as they will increase the secretion of saliva, they heps in better digestion, no matter whatever you eat chew well and eat, don't drink water between ur food intake ..
Finish it with beetle leaves (sweet peeda) they enhance digestion

My suggestion is to take everything but less and chew more. By chewing, satisfaction will take place with more digestive juices release.
More.
Take cold, fruits and then hot sequence.
Sweets first Salty and in the last Spicy ending with hot at last but not cold drinks.
Modern way is to take cold-fruits-snack-hot-sweets-meal-tea/coffee sequence so that digestion takes place properly.
Don't Jungle your stomach keep 20 minutes breaks between intakes.
Marriage or party is for enjoy not for abusing the digestion.

I come from the north side of the country and here everything is very oily even in daily routine so you can imagine what food in a wedding like to be. Basically the first easily digestible food you can always pick up is soup and salads as they are in plenty.

The next thing you can try is having little of all, like avoiding milk and milk products which are common in the wedding would be a healthy choice because they are too heavy to digest.

You can take a simple chapati and dal but filling with soup and salad first will help you to take other things less and you can easily avoid eating oily stuff because your stomach will be full.

Take care.

Namaste,

First see if you find vegetable soup then have one cup, later have a plate full of some vegetables like carrot, brocoli, Onion to munch.

Then start with your menu with Wheat roti and mixed vegetable curry, then vegetable rice or pulav.

Have some fruits.

This is best option to keep  yourself healthy during Parties.

Thanks.

Hello Doshi,

A very good question, well I would say I always stick to a lot of Protein, and fruit diet only. I don't usually eat carbs which include rice, maida and wheat dishes. So lots of vegetables, fruit salad, fruit custard, all kinds of dals etc.

Hi Doshi, the only way to handle cravings is by leading a holistic lifestyle with high raw for a prolonged period of time. The first step is to quit all animal products. But this doesn’t stop the craving. It will only help the body to start detoxing. As you start including a lot of juices from vegetables and fruits, have fruits in abundance, have salads in abundance, your gut will start cleaning itself. Cravings are nothing but wrong messages from the gut to the brain sent by bad bacteria and viruses To get food for their survival. Once you start cleaning the gut, The current cravings automatically vanish. It also takes some willpower and determination to handle these initially. Please remember that once you start detoxing, you will have a lot of cravings which are hidden emotions/suppressed emotions for food which were not handled properly in the past. At that time it is best to make a choice to pick fruits in place of those foods otherwise the vicious cycle will continue to haunt you. Remember that every single living beings including viruses and bacteria will fight for their survival. When you stop giving the foods that they feed on, they will send wrong messages to the brain for wanting the wrong foods. If you give in to their demands they will continue to thrive in your body causing harm. Hence you must be aware that hunger is a sign for the body asking for glucose and cravings are wrong messages going to the brain because of the toxic accumulation in your body.

Rest assured people have handled their cravings successfully for a long time even from extreme food addictions by surrendering to the power of fruits vegetables and leafy greens in the form of juicing and whole produce.

In functions and parties or festivals I would focus on these groups

Priority wise top most being the highest

1. I will avoid diary like milk based or curd based foods, sweets with ghee, paneer ,milk creams , cheese

2. I will avoid fried foods

3. I will avoid maida based sweets

4. Avoid sugar

5. Avoid pickles

6. Maida based nan - these have curd most of the time ..So I avoid

7. Worst case is to eat fried outside in low hygienic places becoz when one heat oils

they become toxic and outside oils are refined and they heat and repeat heating

multiple times.

8. Jalebi and Jahangir and badushah and such sweets have curd in it..I avoid

9. I used avoid wheAt chapathi s outside majorly as they get mixed with maida. I am now gluten free, so this is not a question.

What I am OK to consume outside

1. Salads and all the available raw at that time.

2. White Rice sambar rasam because we don’t get whole grains

3. Mixed rice like Biryani and pulavs

4. Vegetable gravies which I know won't have diary like dals

5. Chats which are more like bhel but no fried items

6. Anything gluten free oilfree is ok

7. We can’t expect oilfree tadka.. so some exceptions there.

During festivals, i still stick to the same rules. My family, my in-laws have kind of gotten used to the fact that I won’t change. I mingle well with everybody, I participate in all functions, I spread happiness despite my food limitations. This has made them accept me with my habits even if they don’t like it.

It’s all a matter of how you carry yourself, and stick to your principles. Ultimately you are the only person who can define your health and how you achieve that.

Namaste,
There are so many dishes available in marriage party,it is not necessary taking everything is important, there are so many types of salads, sprouts, fruits & fruit juices, corn flakes waiting yourself.
But if you want can take everything in small quantities ,chew well , keeping second day fast is necessary .
