Hi there,

Left ventricular dysfunction is the most common cause of congestive heart failure and many other severe cardiac problems. People with diabetes, hypertension, and coronary artery diseases have higher risk of developing left ventricular dysfunction which can led to severe other cardiac diseases. Taking precautionary measures and preventing risk factors is the best possible way to avoid further damage or worsen the condition.

• A healthy diet for the heart ;

Foods that are good for health should be consumed more such as fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts. Adopting a whole plant-based diet is one very effective method to prevent any heart diseases.

Minimise refined carbohydrate and saturated fats.

• Make sure that your fluid intake is sufficient for your body to maintain a normal metabolic function. Fluid is very important for your body to maintain its activity and particularly the heart.

• Minimising salt intake is one effective precautionary measure to prevent or lessen the burden of the heart function. High salt or sodium intake can increase the blood pressure which can worsen cardiovascular diseases.

• Regular physical exercise from mild to moderate for an hour or two daily is very important. Go for a morning walk, brisk walking etc..; Simple yet regular physical activity can help improve the heart functions. Avoid overstraining of your body.

• If you're overweight or obese, losing some body weight can help improve the condition and prevent further risk and damage to the heart. Any forms of physical activity with healthy eating habits can help reduce weight.

• Stress is one of the major factor responsible for many cardiovascular disorders. Any possible ways to prevent or reduce stress must be taken into consideration so as to avoid further burden or damage to the heart. Seek assistance from a certified practitioner and practice yogasana, pranayama and meditation. They can help relieve stress effectively.

• Sleep and rest

Get a good amount of rest and sleep. Overactivity and lack of rest can cause fatigue and worsen stress which can further aggravate the heart problems.

• Avoid alcohol, smoking, oily fried foods, maida (white flour), cold beverages and other artificially processed foods with preservatives.
