Is that okay to have onions and garlic in healing stage?

It is perfectly fine to have onions and garlic, being anti-inflammatory in nature both will only help in hastening the healing.

Yes, it is good to consume onions and garlic has many healing properties, among them. They are known to lower the high blood pressure by reducing the fat accumulation in the walls of the arteries. Patients with atherosclerosis onion and garlic might be useful to wash all the fat from the walls of the blood vessels. Garlic has the capacity to reduce serum cholesterol levels in the blood. They are known nutraceutical supplement given in western countries to lower the cholesterol levels. Not only that they are also known as blood purifiers.

Another healing property is that they act as anti-fungal and antibacterial agents which means they could fight against the bacteria or fungal infections. Not only that they are known as natural antibiotics.

They also play a vital role in reproductive functions. They are both known as the aphrodisiac agent by increasing the sperm count in men.

They also help in boosting up the health of bones.

Also, it is also known to have cancer-fighting properties. They act as anticarcinogenic against some forms of cancers as well.

They could work as antioxidants by maintaining optimum health.

They both are known to increase the digestion process and could optimize the functions of the digestive tract and could help in the digestion and elimination process of the digestive tract.

Dear health seeker,

The garlic has been the favorite prescription of many practitioners- including ''Naturopaths'  as a specific mainly for patients suffering from hypertension, cardiac ailments, and high cholesterol.

   Quite some ''naturopaths, Yogacharya and yogic institutions in our country had in fact gone all out in recommending garlic as if it is a universal tonic. They have started calling it ''LAHSUN BADSHAH-GARLIC, THE EMPEROR, GARLIC -KING Etc.

   But we, of the Sarma's School, have all along been sounding a note of caution against the use of this substance in any form. Our condemnation of this stemmed from the SCRIPTURAL KNOWLEDGE that forms a part of the ancient Indian tradition that highly Taamasic substances like garlic and onions can never ever promote health in the real sense of the term.

   We are glad that confirmation of our view has come in from rather unexpected quarters.

     A team of medical researchers in Jhansi has lately demolished the claim that garlic is beneficial to the heart and warned that there is no scientific evidence in this regard.

    Prolonged garlic use in high doses may even be harmful, according to Dr. R. ARORA, and his colleagues at the M.L.B. Medical college.

They have based their warnings on a clinical study of 20 healthy persons and 30 heart patients who were given 50 grams of garlic a day for 12 weeks.

   The treatment resulted in a high incidence of side--effects like nausea and bad breath, but failed to lower cholesterol level in the blood, they said in a paper to be published in a medical journal abroad.

    Instead of decreasing cholesterol, garlic actually increased it, according to Dr. Arora, who said the study had also raised doubts about the safety of garlic in females.

   Dr. Arora's conclusions were supported by Dr, D.N. Prasad, chief Pharmacologist of Meerut Medical College.

    He told P.T.I. that garlic appeared to check cholesterol in normal persons but might be harmful to heart patients as it raised cholesterol in them.

   In light of recent findings there was no justification for advising the whole population to consume garlic to prevent heart attack, Dr, Arora said.

   Beware of these medicines.

There is no healing power in any herbs or other foods as the body is self-healing.

What are our natural foods? Those which we are attracted to by sight, smell, colours to eat in their natural form. So this means mostly ripe fruits and a few sweet vegetables and tender greens. We are not attracted much to consume onions or garlic in raw form. Hence, the short answer is it is not necessary to consume them. But it is fine in moderation to get a variation in taste of you so desire.

Onion and garlic are not primary foods for humans. They are in a way taste enhancers only. During healing focus on fruits, juicy, non-starchy vegetables and plenty of greens. Typically people use onions and garlic only to enhance the taste of a vegetable salad. While healing tastes really don't help. What matters is how much bioavailable liquids and enough fiber is being consumed without adding too many additives. Adding herbs like coriander, mint and taste improvers like citrus is far better. If you still want to use onion and garlic, consume in moderation. They are not as bad as animal foods or processed junk.
