I have pcod problem. What is the solution?

Polycystic ovary disease (PCOD) is a condition that creates an imbalance in a woman's hormone levels. Here in this condition, women produce higher levels of male hormones which might make the women skip the menstrual periods, which is why you would see irregular menstrual periods in women who suffer from this condition.

This condition is caused by insulin resistance, some genetical history or due to inflammation in the ovaries.

Symptoms like irregular periods, abnormal hair growth, acne, weight gain, male pattern of baldness, darkening of skin and headaches are common in this condition.

Lifestyle modification and diet along with Yoga therapy could play a vital role in the management of this condition.

A low glycemic index and low carb diet consumption have shown very good results. Some research studies have elicited this fact.

Yoga therapy if taken under a trained Yoga therapist could be beneficial as well.

Till now I am sure you have got a lot of beneficial advice regarding the illness and how to treat it, I will add on some effective home remedies which will hasten the process along with above advises:

1. Having methi seeds powder in the morning with warm water increases insulin sensitivity, curing the disease.

2. Having cinnamon powder will help to increase insulin sensitivity take it during evening time or do not consume an hour before or after it.

3. Consuming holy basil (tulsi) helps in reducing weight and increases ovulation and chances of fertility.

Hi, 
It is a complex hormonal disorder, nowadays it is more common in females of childbearing age.  PCOD occurs due to insulin resistance and hormonal irregulation. 

Symptoms. 
Irregular periods.
Cyst in ovary.
Hair thinning.
Weight gain. 
Facial hair and infertility.

Diet modifications.

  • Avoid sugar,  maida, and polished rice. 
  • Avoid tea code and. Other artificial beverage.
  • Reduce intake of simple carbohydrates, avoid white flour, refined grains, polished rice, sugar etc. 
  • Take fresh fruits and vegetables rich in fibres and necessary nutrients. They help to get fiber and regulating the blood sugar level. 
  • Take more protein diet.  Include nuts and whole grains. 
  • Avoid fatty, oily fried food items. 

Weight management:

Weight reduction and management by proper diet and regular physical activities helps to reduce the risk of further complications and helps to regulate the hormones.

Physical Activities:

  • Do regular walking, jogging to reduce fat. 
  • Do Yogasananas like Tadasana, trikonasana, naukasana, sethu bandhasana, paschimottanasana, dhanurasana, hamsasana to reduce belly fat.  
  • Do regular pranayama like nadi shuddhi and bhastrika.
  • Practice bhastrika and Kaphala bhati.

Following a whole plant-based diet would help. Apart from other lifestyle changes, let us understand the reason for this imbalance.

In mature females, every month the pituitary gland which is located at the base of the brain produces 2 female sex hormones. These hormones work in such a way to create a balance in the body which leads to either fertilization or if not fertilized leads to the monthly menstrual cycle. Estrogen and progesterone are hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle. If there is a hormonal imbalance in the body it leads to PCOS/PCOD. In this condition, a cyst or an abnormal growth in the uterus develops. This happens when over a period of time, the body is unable to eliminate the toxins from the body and they accumulate and form cysts. The cysts can dissolve when the right lifestyle choices are made. This includes maintaining right body weight, physical activity, and healthy lifestyle changes. Hormonal imbalance in the body occurs when the body is under constant high periods of stress. This releases the hormone cortisol, which impacts the functioning of other hormones like estrogen and progesterone. Due to this constant high levels of stress, the brain gets the signal to store excess fat and slow the body's metabolism down. Therefore you might put on weight or have acne etc. Lifestyle changes would help solve all your health issues.

  • This includes the removal of all animal products including dairy, removal of packed and processed, oily and sugary foods. This creates an overload of toxins and disturbs the balance of the body.
