Hypertension can be very treated with various home remedies with which a healthy plant-based diet is combined. With a combination of both, you can achieve the ideal level of health:

1. Consuming Raw garlic clove in the morning helps in lowering blood pressure and cholesterol.

2. Eating more potassium-rich food like bananas, coconut helps in treating high blood pressure

3. Drinking plenty of water helps in lowering blood pressure.

Whenever you have an episode of High blood pressure, sleep on the left lateral side and with improving blood circulation it will lower blood pressure.

Thank you

Hi,

High blood pressure could be either due to an incorrect lifestyle or may be due to some underlying health issues related to either heart or kidneys. Generally, it is due to incorrect lifestyle choices which we make. Correcting them would cure your high blood pressure. Lets briefly understand the mechanism in the body.

High blood pressure occurs when the force of the blood is very high against the wall of the arteries. If the arteries get narrower there would be higher blood pressure. There are many factors that affect blood pressure ranging from blood volume to resistance. Resistance is when the body has to work against the flexibility of the arterial walls. In a healthy individual, the arterial walls are able to adjust to the increase or decrease in the diameter of the arterial walls. Thereby, it can maintain blood pressure in the body. But sometimes when the thickness of the blood increases due to more particles of fat and protein in the blood, then the heart has to work harder to push the blood through the arteries and the blood pressure goes up. Over a period of time, this increased pressure can damage the arterial walls and cause a lot of health issues ranging from stroke, heart attack to damage to kidneys, etc. Therefore, it is important to maintain the body’s blood pressure.

Treatment would involve lifestyle changes and dietary modification.

  • Changes in the food involve a reduction of salt, avoid all packed, processed, bakery items, pickles, papads, frozen products, etc, are all hidden sources of salt.
  • Inclusion of more raw fruits and vegetables. They contain the necessary antioxidants, fibre and all the essential vitamins and minerals required to bring the blood pressure under control.
  • Include vegetable juices like those of beetroot, coconut, ash gourd etc. They are good in electrolytes and are alkaline in nature.
  • Avoiding all foods that contain fat like oily foods, animal products., dairy foods, etc.
  • Lifestyle changes would involve better management of stress through yoga, meditation, and physical activity. They all bring about the release of happy hormones.
  • Deep breathing has been shown to be an effective method in calming down the mind and support healing.
  • Regular good sleep is important. This helps in repair and healing the body.
  • Exposure to sunshine helps in the release of happy hormones in the body.

High-fat foods especially those without fibre damage arteries and render blood toxic and sluggish increasing BP.

First step is to reduce all foods without fibre - this means all animal foods - dairy, non-veg, eggs and deep-fried foods.

Include more hydrating foods - Fruits and vegetables. Take help from your doctor to keep reducing medicines.
