My 7 year old has been diagnosed with vitiligo. He is off dairy now and also started to eat more fresh fruits and raw veggies too. Many doctors advice to avoid foods like grapes and tomatoes for vitiligo ppl. But my son loves to eat cherry tomatoes. Is this a myth or a truth?

Three types of toxin are - physical, chemical and emotional. Physical is in the environment, chemical in food and emotional in the mind. So your focus must be on clean air (environment), organic food (chemical) and for a seven year old I am sure emotional toxin may not be an issue.

What we overlook is the following:-
1. Swimming in chlorinated water. Avoid.
2. Chemical in toiletries. Shift to organic.
3. Refined food. Appears healthy but is the worst. Just stop bread, burgers, pizza, jam, chips, biscuits, cakes, chocolates, sweets, ready-made shakes, tea, coffee, etc.
4. Animal protein including dairy. Shun it.
5. Use only organic coconut oil for all application and food. No other oil.
6. Use of facemask if pollution levels are high.
7. Sunbathing. It is a must, one hour daily. Best time is within one hour of sunrise or before sunset.
8. Emotionally the child will require extra care.

It’s a myth really. Kindly feed him a lot of fruits / veggies that he loves. A helathy vegan whole food plant based diet will reverse his condition in a few yrs. the more raw the better. Kindly ensure he stays away from all the junk the kids of today’s world eats.

Jyoti.. send some whole rice for the box and have rotis at home. Also make sure that the gf rotis just have some black spots and not as cooked on the tawa as wheat chapathi. Since gf atta is mixed with hot water they don’t need to be roasted so much. Try both these methods. Also ragi chapathi is softer compared to jowar. Look up on YouTube and avoid oil or ghee.
Another idea is send a thermos lunch bag which can keep the roti warm in a muslin or a cotton cloth. Try all and see

Yes I do follow sharan india recipes which are really good. My son eats it only when it is warm, specially the gluten free roti. If I give him the same in his lunch box, he won't eat. Can you suggest some gluten free lunch recipes.
Thanks a lot!

Try to avoid wheat. Most of the auto immune issues like his condition stems from the fact that body is trying to fight something that got into the blood stream by chance. Wheat does not seem like intolerance to many people, but first time and many more times the intestinal lining will try to resist it, but overtime it tears and causes a leak. A leaky intestinal permiability is one of the major causes that’s caused by wheat. His gut health is one of the primary root causes that needs fixing now. Once the gut microbiome improves and heals, they will do their job and in turn the signals and comms in the body will automatically rectify. Kids understand if they hear reasons. My kids have learnt a lot only through repeated education and my patience. Kindly remove wheat from the diet. Hope you are off diary , processed packaged foods. Make sweets with organic jaggery / dates only. Avoid oil in the cooking as a family. It’s very easy and you can look at sharan india recipes or many more google recipes for Indian oil free cooking. Remove sugar , white rice from his diet. This condition is reversible in the next 5 yrs provided you change this to whole food plant based with fruits as his breakfast and cooked for
Lunch and dinner and snacking on raw majorly. Let us know if you need help in any way.

Yes, I keep him away from junk as much as I can. How about whole wheat atta roti? Its always a 50:50 ratio of veggies n atta while kneading.I do make gluten free rotiz like jowar but he does insists having a whole wheat roti.
