Hello User,

Psoriasis is a skin condition that results in dry, cracked skin, redness, swelling, or scaly patches on the skin. The most common affected areas are the lower back, elbow knees, sole of feet, scalp, face, or palm.

The cause for the psoriasis is an improper immune system which causes the skin to regenerate at a faster rate than normal.

Factors that may trigger psoriasis

  • Stress.
  • Family history.
  • Certain medications.
  • Smoking.
  • Alcohol consumption.
  • Weather conditions.
  • Infections.

Local application

  • Apply aloe vera gel on the affected part.
  • Apply a paste made of turmeric mixed with Gulab Jal on the affected part. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Take neem and boil it in water. Use this neem water to wash the affected areas and also use it for the bath.

Diet

  • Eat only plant-based natural foods like processed and preserved foods may trigger psoriasis by affecting the immunity.
  • Drink warm water with few drops of lemon juice in it on an empty stomach in the morning. This will help to flush the toxins out of them and also to improve the metabolism.
  • Have fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables.
  • Drink coconut water.
  • Avoid dairy products and animal foods as they may trigger psoriasis.
  • Avoid refined oils and refined grains. Instead, eat whole grains and use coconut oil for cooking.
  • Say no to smoking and alcohol.
  • Drink plenty of water during the day.

Yoga and pranayam

  • perform deep breathing exercises regularly, specially anulom-vilom and kapalbhati pranayam.
  • Do suryanamaskar daily.
  • Do paschimottan asana, sarvanga asana, trikona asana and parvat asana.

Sleep

Sleeping is important to maintain the circadian rhythm and to relieve the stress. So, take proper sleep of at least 7-8hours daily. Sleep early at night at around 10 pm and also wake up early in the morning at around 6 am.
