Hello,

This habbit is purely mindset. Usually we bite nails when we are in stress or tensed. Which on later stage turns of biting nails regularly.

Always understand few key points before biting the nails.

Before biting the nails think that it may damage the tissue around your nails, they may stop growing the way they should. This gives you abnormal-looking nails.

Over time, nail biting can even cause jaw problems.

Sometimes germs accumulated inside the nails When you’re putting your fingers in your mouth multiple times a day, it increases your chances of getting sick.

Slowly you may feel digestive system gets affected.

When you think above said points surely you will stop biting nails for your good health.

Keep lightly neem oil on thumb, when they suck they will feel bitterness feeling. So can make them understand that whenever you suck the thumb mom will keep this oil. They will definitely understand.

There are two ways that studies show that replaces a bad habit 

 

1) associate a bad thought that grosses you out ( like when you touch something smelly and yucky with ur hands )and you get a thought of biting ur nails and you remember your hand is dirty. So this will stop you from biting 

2) force yourself to replace that with a better habit - clipping your nails as soon as it shows up.
