  • Snoring occasionally is not problematic.  If you are a habitual snorer than it is not good for your health.
  • Treatment is necessary for the habitual snorers.
  • They are having risk if sleep apnea, long interruption of breathing,  disturbed sleep.
  • Lead to strain heart and a risk of heart attack and stroke.
  • Low oxygen level in blood due to lack of breathing leads to pulmonary hypertension.
  • Chronic headache
  • Disturbed sleep leads to stress and obesity.
  • Fatigue.

Remedies:

  • Reduce weight in case of overweight.
  • Keep the head little bit elevated from bed during sleep, which helps to keep airways open.
  • Check for any deviated septum or nasal polyps.
  • Avoid sedatives/smoking/alcohol.
  • Get enough and proper sleep.
  • Take facial steam 30 mins before going to bed.
  • Drink more water, especially Lukewarm water.
  • Avoid over eating.
  • Sleep in proper position.
  • Practice pranayam like nadi shuddhi and Ujjayi.
  • Practice asana like gomukhasana, ustrasana, and sectional breathing exercises.

Snoring can happen due to several reasons. It could happen due to either of these reasons:

Anatomy of your mouth: If the passage way is narrow, which could be due to construction of the mouth or due to obesity, it would lead to snoring

Alcohol Consumption: Alcohol relaxes throat muscles and decreases your natural defenses against airway obstruction

Nasal problems.Chronic nasal congestion or a crooked partition between your nostrils (deviated nasal septum) may contribute to your snoring.

Sleep deprivation. Not getting enough sleep can lead to further throat relaxation.

Sleep position.Snoring is typically most frequent and loudest when sleeping on the back as gravity's effect on the throat narrows the airway.

Snoring though usually is not harmful but it would lead to discomfort in sleep, less sleep which will lead to fatigue etc during day time.

Please get a sleep apnea test.

It can be cured naturally. Avoid eating late, do not eat maida or maida based food at night time. Go to bed on time and avoid use of electronics like mobile and tablet PC's before sleeping. A night walk also helps in getting better sleep.

Excess mucus in the body with inflammed mucus membranes can cause a sound during deep breathing when body goes to a state of semi conscious or unconscious rest.

Excess toxin accumulation in the respiratory tract due to wrong living habits can contribute to such issues. Weight gain also happens in some cases.

Food high with dairy, meat eggs fish starches caffeine , deep fried , excess grease.

Consume Food high in raw throughout the day, mindful eating , avoid animal products, avoid processed foods

De clutter the mind off emotional stress to get into deep undisturbed sleep

Practice yoga and pranayama for keeping the nasal passages clean and healthy as you practice lifestyle changes.

Exposure to sunlight and fresh air in parks helps

Snoring is the hoarse sound, which occurs when air passes through the relaxed tissues in throat, causing the tissues to vibrate as you breathe. Snoring is mostly found in those people who have mucus in nostril area or have a tendency of cough and cold. Basically it is thinning the nasal cavity and contraction of respiratory system. Nearly everyone snores now and then, but for some people it can be a chronic problem. Sometimes it may also indicate a serious health condition. Snoring is often associated with a sleep disorder called obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). If snoring is accompanied by any of the following symptoms, it may be an indication to visit doctor for further examination:

Witnessed breathing pauses during sleep

Excessive daytime sleepiness

Difficulty concentrating

Morning headaches

Sore throat upon awakening

Restless sleep

Gasping or choking at night

High blood pressure

Chest pain at night

Your snoring is so loud it's disrupting your partner's sleep

In children, poor attention span, behavioural issues or poor performance in school

Lifestyle changes, such as losing weight, avoiding alcohol close to bedtime or sleeping on your side, can help stop snoring.

From my own experience I have seen wonderful results by putting one to two Panch Tulsi Oil drops in Nose before bathing in the morning.

Two drops of Almond oil in both nostrils before sleeping.

Jal Neti may be helpful in controlling the bacterial infections in breathing track.

Hello,

Snoring is caused due to the vibration of tissue along the airway. Unless snoring is really disturbing you or your partner you shouldn't be worried a lot. Again there are many causes and reasons for snoring. However, the best way to help yourself is you can do the below:

1) Try to sleep on one side

2) Keep your head a little elevated with a Pillow

3) Don't eat heavy meals for dinner time (Avoid carbohydrates completely)

4) Do the breathing exercise before sleeping (Inhaling through nose and breathing out or exhaling out through mouth)

5) Keep yourself hydrated (drink good amount of water)

6) You need to avoid Dairy and Gluten food products (as they contribute hugely to the problem of snoring)

Try these remedies for now
